Curtis Total Service Complaint - Homeowner Taken Advantage Of

Review by PA homeowner on 2009-04-21
ALLENTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA -- We had trouble with Curtis Total Service Allentown, PA. We were quoted one price and then charged another. Told that we will have to appear before the magistrate if we choose not to pay. Explained willing to pay the amount agreed upon not an amount that is double.

Recommend getting everything in writing and using a charge card and not a check or cash for any deposits for work from this company.

Do your research before going with them.

Do you have that quote in writing? If so, produce and tell them you expect it to be honored. Unless additional work was done, the quote should be honored. If you do not have it in writing--there is not much you can do. It will be your word against their word.

We did not get it in writing but fortunately we found out that there is a federal law and my state PA also has a state version called Pennsylvania Unfair trade practices and consumer protection. I have been getting estimates from other contractors for like work and will have to go to court with the estimates.
