FIA Credit Card Services Complaint - Deceptive, Dismissive, Disgusting
NEW JERSEY -- I have had an FIA card for at least five years and experienced no hassles... until today. As I slid my card through the credit machine at the grocery store (where I indulged in such excesses as cat food, hand lotion, and baking soda, along with household cleaning products), the sales clerk informed me that the card was rejected.
Must be a mistake, I figured. I have plenty of credit left.
He tried again--no use.
Why did this happen?
Here's the deal: Although I have a reasonably high credit limit, the fact that I now have used about half of it prompted them to decide (without notifying me, of course) to slice my limit in half.
The conversation went something like this:
Me: Have I ever made a late payment?
Mr. FIA: No.
Me: Are there problems with my credit rating?
FIA automaton: No, your credit is excellent.
Me: Then WHY DID YOU CUT MY RATE AND NOT TELL ME??
Mr. Has All the Answers: Because we review credit accounts periodically and we decided you had too high a rate for your income.
Me: Let me get this straight. I make all payments on time, always pay much more than the minimum, and never have problems.
So now I am a problem?
Mr. Personality sighs: You are not the problem. Your credit rating is fine. You pay on time. The thing is, we FEEL you owe too much for a person with your income, considering all of your other payments.
Me: There ARE no other credit cards, just this one.
FIA: That appears to be correct.
ME: So what you are saying is that you decided that although I pay on time, you made the mistake for the past seven years of alllowing me this credit limit I have never even come close to.
FIA no-emotion voice: Yes.
If you've read this far, (I'd be surprised), you realize that FIA had absolutely NO valid reason to cut my credit limit in half, not bother to inform me, allow me to feel humilated in Target, hold up other customers, and listen to such eloquent answers as: "I'm sorry you feel that way."
Translation: I don't give a fart, lady.
I'm FIA, the credit giant that eats little companies (and people) for breakfast.
So get lost.
And I say, FIA are a bunch of liars and thievess, thieves and liaars..
Now if FIA can cut my limit in half for no valid reason, why can't I cut my taxes in half?
And honesty, I woulnd't mind if the bank I now refer to as Frsutratingly Idiotic A**holes.
For a mere 24 percent a year.
