Food Lion Grocery Store Complaint - Sell It For What You Have Advertised

Review by unhappy guy on 2009-04-22
NORTH CAROLINA -- I got off work at 8am Wed. morning, I go to food Lion to pick up so groceries. I walk in the store and there is a sign 4 12 packs Pepsi for $11.00 I grab 8. I continue to shop get what I need and go to check out. The Check out lady is very polite but could not ring up the Pepsi products I had picked up she calls a person over, the assistant manager I assume. he state "thats the wrong price, they are 2 for 5 dollars and something' I stated thats not what they are advertised over there, at that moment they was taking it down, he stated again well thats wrong. I looked at him and said that shabby business and said I don't want them anymore. then I pondered for few sec. and said never mind I will go else where. I shop at the Food Lion Store in Walnut Cove N.C. for many years. I spend a lot money in that store but they have just lost all my business for that move.

I will shop at the local Ingals for Wal-Mart super store from hence forth. I am a supervisor where I am employed and would never treat a customer like that.

This has happened to me at Food Lion before, too. Their weekly sales run Wed to Tues night. Sometimes, they haven't gotten around to changing all of the sales signs yet.

Not an excuse, I know..that's why I go by what's advertised in the flier instead of just reading the signs.

I don't know about NC, but in MA they have to honor the displayed price, whether it is incorrect or not.

It's the same where I live as well. If the price displayed on the sign is different than what is rung up, they have to honor the price on the display.

I would think 2 for $5 is a better deal than 4 for $11. Trust me on this one my major is in mathematics.

this does suck. to bad they did not honor the price as a nice gester.

Madc, I agree. One time when I was shopping there, I found packages of chicken wings for $.09. I tried to buy 2 of them. The bagboy snatched them off of the belt (the cashier didn't notice anything strange about the price).

The bagboy looked at me and rudely said "These were marked the wrong price. You can't buy them."
I'd have to say that Food Lion is not known for good customer service.

Crabby, ordinarily this would be true, but you have to factor in the 'or something' part.

I agree with MM,sounds like the lazy store manager didn't get around to having the signs taken down.

IMO they should have honored the sale price listed

Ditto. And MM, that bagboy needs a lesson in customer service.

So Food Lion survived that hidden camera incident? I thought they were belly up.
Posted by trp2hevn on 2009-04-22:
Gosh, here where I live they don't sell 12 or 24 packs of Pepsi anymore. Now it's 8 or 18. Of course, they didn't lower the price any either.
Posted by Anonymous on 2009-04-22:
Really,no 12 or 24 packs? I haven't seen the 8 packs anywhere i shop here in California...trippy
Posted by Anonymous on 2009-04-22:
8 pack what a rip off. I always buy 12 packs
Posted by Anonymous on 2009-04-22:

Will someone please have the derenne St be polite to the vendors. The managers complain if certain items sellout during the day. Well, if any items ever sellout its a good day. We lose more by stales each day.they're never in a good mood unless u feel the shelves up but with no regard to losing money due to stales. Different from all other stores in the area.
