Carnival Cruise Line Complaint - The Carnival Miracle
RED HOOK, NEW YORK -- Dear Carnival Cruise Lines,
My name is Sandra Wheeler. I have just returned from a cruise on the Carnival Miracle to Bermuda and Newport Rhode Island. Overall the cruise was good, but I do have two things that my family and I were disappointed with. First of all, along with many other cruisers on this trip, we did not feel we were given enough time in Bermuda. We could not afford the shore excursions and found that by the time we arrived in Bermuda and were able to leave the ship and find transportation to see anything everything was closed. The next day we stayed in Kings Wharf and were disappointed as the only beach within walking distance was closed. The local people questioned why there was a cruise in April as most things there are seasonal and not open until May and June!
The second complaint we have is that we are third time cruisers with Carnival and we were put in a room at the far end of the ship where there was continuous cigarette smoke pouring into our rooms from another room. We reported this to the steward and he was wonderful in trying to help us with this problem and went out of his way to try to resolve the problem. My husband and I do not smoke and I have a problem with breathing around it. We could not stay in our room most of the cruise and at night we had to sleep in that! It was so bad that I went to the pursers desk to report this and I was told there was nothing they could do that unfortunately guests can smoke in their rooms. I do not feel this is fair for non smokers and that room should not be given to anyone who is a non smoker. I experienced chest pains and wheezing due to this and my stay was very uncomfortable. My husband and I are considering doing another cruise in 2011, but now are skeptical about using Carnival and may choose another cruise line. We had two previous cruises on two Carnival ships and were very pleased and never encountered anything like this. We were treated well on the second cruise as past cruisers. We sailed on the Triumph and The Victory. I do not feel we were acknowledged as past guests on this cruise except for the reception and that was not even as well done as the second cruise. We feel that ship was too crowded for its size and disappointing. We will not recommend this cruise or ship to anyone. Thank you for your time.
(The entire staff and crew were wonderful).
