AirTran Airways Complaint - Terrible Customer Service
BWI -- I was flying back with my wife & 1 year old son from BWI to BOS on 4/12. We checked in online but needed to check two bags. We arrived at curbside check-in at 5:50 for the 6:30 flight. The skycap told us that he was locked out of the flight because it was within the 45 minute window -- no problem we went inside to the ticket counter. The first gentleman we spoke to said that he would not help us because we were within the 45 minute window till departure. Another person *standing right beside the original man* we spoke to checked our luggage. We made it through security in 5 minutes and got to the gate *before* our plane arrived with its passengers. We watched everyone de-plane and they started boarding our flight to Boston. We were very unpleasantly surprised to find out that there is no special boarding call for families traveling with small children. We were in Zone 5 so by the time our zone was called, the line to board the plane was past the gate check-in so we waited until the line died down so as to let our 1 year burn some energy. My wife stayed in the gate area while I chased my son wherever we wanted to go. We got in line when there 2 people ahead of the gate agent only to find out that they had given our seats away. How is this possible? How can you give seats away for passengers who are checked-in without a courtesy announcement? When I asked for a supervisor, the agent directed me back to the ticket counter past security.
Then I found one a few gates away. He then proceeded to inform me that everything was my fault and then booked us *stand-by* on the last flight out. He was also very rude and condescending! When we finally got on the plane, the flight attendants seemed angry and just didn't seem like the enjoyed their job. All of this is to say that because of this experience, we *WILL NEVER* fly this airline again.
