Jiffy Lube Complaint - I Got Ripped Off - Oil Change

Oil Change - Complaint
Review by heavenlee on 2009-04-28
CANON CITY, COLORADO -- This is why I change my own oil. A few weeks ago it was time for my Saturn to get an oil change. I normally do this myself, except this time the bolt was stripped and I was unable to remove it. So I decided to take it to Jiffy Lube. Their customer service is amazing, but that is only a distraction to get their hands deep in your pocket. I told the guy I need the high mileage oil, and asked if they could please check my other fluids. (I did not ask them to fill any of my fluids just check and see if they were low!) So they do the oil change and everything and then they come over and tell me that I owe them almost $70. When I was going to change it myself, it only cost me $30 and that is with the high mileage oil, Fran Tough Guard oil filter, and a new oil bucket!! I asked them how it could possibly cost me $70 dollars, they charged me almost $10 to top off my anti-freeze.

Then to make matters worse I spent $60 some dollars on low grade, Conoco brand oil, they didn't even put in the high mileage. I was completely outraged, I will never go back to Jiffy Lube again and I would not recommend anyone else to.

If you go back to doing it yourself, scrap the high mileage oil and use a quart of Lucas oil additive with regular motor oil. You probably should pick up a socket that fits that drain plug too. It doesn't need to be cranked down on. Just snug it up.

Contact their home office and demand a refund. I took my car to JL once for just an oil change. The guy told me about all this other stuff that absolutely needed to be done. I said that I was pretty sure I had just had those services performed recently by my mechanic. He insisted no way. I believed him! $200 later, I get home and check my files. Yes, indeed those services he said my car desperately needed had been performed 3 weeks prior. I contacted home office, faxed my proof and got a speedy refund check in the mail.

I was talked into a tire rotation on my new car. I had the oil changed too. My dash alert came on when I left, signaling my tire pressure. I went home and checked it and one tire read 20 lb. I threw my tire pressure gauge away, thinking it was not correct! I took my car back the next day and they said they forgot to add air after rotating the tires and yes, one tire was at 20 lb. When I get home, I see a huge oil slick in our driveway. I go back again, same night to ask what is leaking. They wiped the underside down and said the person that changed the oil didn't know to clean certain areas on new cars. They promised to send someone to our home to clean up the oil in the driveway but didn't. I will NEVER, EVER go back to a Jiffy Lube again!!! I asked for a partial refund and didn't get it too. Jiffy Lube is run by MORONS.
