Game Cube - Real Games Complaint - Talk About Game! - Downloadable Games
ARKANSAS -- In February of this year, I decided to go ahead and buy a download of Bejewelled from Game House. I had played the trial version, and noticed for One Game Ticket, at $6.99 I could download a version to play. I bought it, "downloaded" it and Foxfire to allow it to play. I was sent a code from Game House to allow me to play the Bejewelled version and re-load it anytime.
It never worked. So, I chalked it up to experience, until March, when I got an e-mail from them advising they had a new "Ticket" for me, for which under the name of GameHouse they extracted another $6.99 from my bank. A little panicky, I informed my bank they should not have deducted the second amount. I finally found a Contact for customer service, and advised them I wanted them to refund my money, told them I just made a mistake for the first purchase and wanted them to remove my bank information.
I received an e-mail telling me to call them. I did, got a smart aleck who had no supervisor anywhere who advised me I had signed a 6 month contract to pay 19.95 for Bejewelled and there was nothing I could do. They sent me a customer survey and it gave them a low rating, and asked a higher manager to contact me. In April, they deducted $6.99 again; and this time the charge said "Real.com" on my bank statement. I advised my bank they were not authorized to deduct any more funds.
I am in the process of disputing their charges with my bank, and have had to cancel that account. I am in the process of also filing with the Attorney General of my State.
I read a lot and read well, and nothing I read indicated I was signing any contract, I was really being honest and paying for a version of an Internet game.
