Comcast Corporation Complaint - Unscrupulous Cable TV billing and specials policy
SANTA ROSA, CALIFORNIA -- Not having television service for nearly a year I decided that I wanted to have TV for a while so I called up the only cable company available in my area, Comcast, to order their Basic Cable Service, the cheapest, at $16.50/month.
Within several days I received a phone call from the sales department at Comcast offering me their 90 day Standard Cable Service special, many more channels then Basic, for $19.99/month plus FREE Installation ($27.99 value). I thought this was cheap so I signed up and planned to cancel in 3 months and stay with Basic since Standard Service costs $47.00 with taxes per month. Way too much!
Then I get the first billing statement and I am being charged the installation fee of $27.99 which was offered free of charge. Instead of expecting to pay $19.99 plus taxes my first bill was $53.88. I was pretty upset considering THEY called me for the offer.
So I called them up and after the Cust. Rep took several minutes to check out my story with her manager, she finally credited my account for the $27.99 installation charge that was supposed to be free. However, she acted like I was supposed to pay this fee at first and I suspect that many people who were offered this deal ended up paying the installation charge anyway and Comcast wouldn't care to correct the mistake.
So basically, I believe that Comcast is sending out these advertising flyers for 90 day cable specials and free installation and then billing customers for installation anyway, pretending it was a billing error, and then failing to correct the mistake themselves while recieving many payments from customers who deserved free installation.
Yes, BIG BUSINESS is SCAMMING the People and everyone has to stand up for their rights or we will all be scammed into "third-world" poverty one of these days.
Verify your billing statements and double check any free offers from Comcast.
The best bet is probably not having Cable TV at all and just rent movies!
