Citizens Bank Complaint - Some Phone Numbers They Will Not Give You
LATROBE, PENNSYLVANIA -- My wife and I have a checking account with Citizens Bank. On the close of business on April 14, 2009 we han a balance of $95.83. My wife made a $300.00 deposit by check on April 15, 2009. She then proceeded to Wal-0Mart to purchase some items, she wrote a check for a total amount of $96.54. She also went to Big Lots and wrote another check for $113.00. She wrote another check to Payless for $44.98. Grand total of $254.52.
Citizens proceeded top charge us with a $234.00 in insufficient funds fees. When questioned about the charges a few days later they told us that it is their policy to hold any deposits other cash for 48 hours to make sure the funds clear. therefore when the stores cashed their checks on April 15, 2009 the amounts were deducted immediately.
I have talked to the branch manager and also to the customer service center (went through 3 levels of managers) and received the same response. And basically I am out of lick.
I have done some research on the internet and found numerous complaints regarding the same complaint. But there does not seem to be any closure to any of them. I talked to a friend and they suggested that I file this complaint.
One note since April 115, 2009, Citizens bank has continued to assess NSF finds and to date the are in access of $1500.00.
With the fines they have charged us and have kept. I am in danger of now of having my home and car taken away because I do not have they money to make the payments.
Through pure determination I have 2 Phone numbers that Citizens Bank will not give you but they are for the Management offices in Riverside, RI.
