America Online Complaint - Customer service is a thing of the past
AOL has been great, but it seems as they improve they are leaving the customer in the dirt. Even finding how to contact someone besides a tech is a challenge. I've already gotten more information off this site than I did with AOL's site, keywords and so forth. They always have a response to put the burden on someone else's shoulders.
I am still on dial-up, but as long as they are supporting dial-up, their upgrades should be dial up friendly (I am trying to give them the benefit of the doubt here that the issues may be dial up related).
I've contacted them several times about e-mail issues. I always get the survey, which does not even have a place to show the issue is NOT resolved. It's always a grade of the tech who tries to help. E-Mail failures is such an issue AOL has set up a web site that the SENDER has to access (but no one tells the sender this). Why can't AOL monitor any rejects with an AOL.COM address and help the sender find the problem. But then, other mail seems to work fine (this is an intermittent problem). I keep getting the same message, check the spam folder (I keep telling them I've turned all spam controls off...round and round we go never to solve the problem and I don't know how many e-mails are not gettting to me).
Today I thought calling them about a problem would at least keep it in this country (I'm pretty sure I was wrong on that assumption). My screen flashes every 8 seconds and only once every 10 times when I dial in and only with AOL. They asked if I was having problems with other applications and even after I said no, they wanted to give me the phone number to Microsoft. I said again, I'm not having problems with other software, programs even MSN, Earthlink do not flash, only AOL. They went into a conference and reported it must be my VGA card. We never got to the 2 other computers have the same issue and 3 other AOL members have the same concern but are too frustrated to even try to talk with AOL.
I don't even mind that they have problems, I resent not even trying to see what the issue is. In today's big brother, they should be able to tap into my connection and see the same thing I am, they should be able to get alerts when an e-mail fails they should be able to do something besides hire a group of techs who cannot troubleshoot but merely try to find someone else they can blame to make the caller go away (and never follow up) maybe they'll stop calling.
I'm looking for a new ISP provider if anyone has recommendations.
