ShoeMall Complaint - Really Bad Service - Shoes

Review by busteroo on 2009-05-05
I purchased a pair of DuckHead Sandtrap Shoes in February from this company using the style number listed on their website. I paid for the shoes with my credit card (which was required), $74.95. The bill arrived from my credit card company and I paid it in full. The shoes arrived shortly later, however, they were the wrong style. I contacted ShoeMall and explained that they sent the wrong style. They advised that the correct style would be sent and to return the pair, which I did. Approximately 3 weeks later, the replacement shoes arrived and when I opened the box I found that ShoeMall had sent the exact same style I had returned. I called ShowMall back and told them that the wrong style had been sent again. I explained that something wasn't right or someone wasn't doing their job. The customer NO-SERVICE lady told me that the employees were only human and humans make mistakes. She then hung up on me. I sent an email explaining the problem and requested a refund.

Approximately 3 more weeks later, I received a check for $68.00, not the amount that I paid of $74.95. I called them back and attempted to explain AGAIN that the amount they sent was not satisfactory. They advised me to ENDORSE the check and return it. I told them their instructions were ridiculous and that I would not endorse the check, but would return it with void written across the front. They then advised me that the shoes I received were exactly what I ordered. I then told them that the style numbers are mixed up on the website. They "researched" the shoes and advised me to send the check back and they would send the correct style of shoes, which I agreed to. Two weeks after I sent the check back, I received the 3rd pair of "replacement"shoes and found that they too, were the exact style I had returned twice before.

This was ridiculous. I sent another email and advised I was sending the shoes back and demanded a full refund of the $74.95 that I had paid previously. I sent an email two weeks after I sent the shoes back and asked when I could expect the refund check. I was told that the shoes had not arrived yet, but were scheduled to arrive that week. I used THEIR return postage label and do not believe for one minute the shoes had not arrived at their business. It appears this is a scam company utilizing the internet to sell their merchandise. At this point, I have not received the refund and do not have the shoes I thought I was buying. I am going to file a complaint with the BBB and the Georgia Consumer Protection division. When considering a purchase from ShoeMall on the internet, Buyer Beware!

Sounds like a whole lot of hassle, and that Shoe Mall needs to get themselves on track!

It was a tremendous amount of hassle! I sent them an email this morning advising them that I would filing a complaint and received a response stating that a refund would be sent "immediately". Wonder why they simply just didn't do the right thing in the first place?

Did you ever consider disputing the charge with your credit card company?

I maintain a zero balance on all of my credit cards. Because of this, ShoeMall has already been paid. However, if they fail to send the refund to me, I will contact AMEX and file a dispute.
