Jillian Michaels Complaint - Do Not Believe The Hype

Review by Amateras on 2009-05-05
HEWITT, TEXAS -- I really enjoy working out with Jillian Michaels; 30 Day Shread, Banish Fat/Boost Metabolism, No More Trouble Zones and her many exercises from the show, "Biggest Loser."

I am disappointed with her new book because she is spilling the same day old beans; stop eating processed foods, eat every 4 hours, do not smoke, get enough rest, ETC. I was expecting something different.

Jillian is talented when it comes to creating exercises that are moviating, but she not unique when it comes to what we should eat.

Maybe it's because those 'old beans' are what really work? That with enough exercise keeps a person plenty healthy. All the diet gimmicks out there don't work..there is no magic pill as much as we might wish there were.

Years ago I kept a log for a week of the things I was eating, wrote down calories, fat, trans fat, sodium, etc. You'd be shocked to find out what is in some foods that you might consider 'healthy'...and yes processed foods are the worst.

VH JbC. Just because it's been said before, doesn't mean it's no longer valid. Kudos to Jillian for being able to sell a new book filled with old (good) advice.

You'd be surprised how many people don't have a clue about what you and I would consider standard information about nutrition and health.

If you start reading labels in the grocery store, it is amazing what you will put back on the shelf. Its a good way to save calories and money...

I think one of the big culprits to the modern obesity problem is the genetically altered corn products they keep injecting into all of our food all the way from high fructose corn sweetener that sweetens everything to the corn crap they feed the cows and pigs in the feed lot which by the way makes the animals sick so they have to pump them with antibiotics. Yes, the corn in question that is such a part of so much of the everyday American diet isn't even fit for human consumption. BUT it's well subsidized and cheap.

Thanks doc..it was actually my family doctor that gave me some information to read on nutrition facts and myths that prompted me to do that eye opening 'exercise.'

You were wise to read it, JbC. Few people do. It's easier to claim 'I can't help it', ask for a 'miracle pill', and simply continue eating poorly. I always feel so badly for the very overweight kids who are that way because Mom and Dad don't set good eating examples. I see it as child abuse.

hey! that kinda sounded like maybe I was there cuz I was a fatty looking for a miracle pill..LOL!!

JC, you aren't still in need of that miracle pill are you?

That could depend on who you ask, C20. ;)

BokiBean : Yes, I did not take that into consideration. I assumed that Jillian would have more take, or a different view. I do understand that the "old beans" are what works, I was just expecting a different take.

I had a family member get really messed up on meth. She dropped like over a 100 pounds. Although I wouldn't recommend meth as a panacea for weight loss because not only did she lose over 100 pounds she also lost her husband, house, job, hair and at 30 something her mother has full legal guardianship of her. There's just no free rides in life. Everything has a price. Oh yeah, I'm also raising one of her kids.

Crabman : I know there are no free rides in life. There is so much hype about Jillian and her new book, it seems as if Jillian is spreading the word about something new, when she is not.
