Wolfies Restaurant and Sports Bar Complaint - Deceptive Advertising, Poor Service, Unhealthy Atmosphere

Review by cjds on 2009-05-06
HOUSTON, TEXAS -- Today I took my daughter to Wolfies Restaurant & Sports Bar located at 4438 FM 1960, Houston, Texas. At 3:37 PM, there were few guests in the restaurant, yet we stood at the front of the restaurant for almost ten minutes before we were acknowledged, then by a manager, and finally we were seated and asked for our beverage order, which took another ten minutes to be served. Although we requested a non-smoking seat, less than 15 feet away from our table employees congregated to sit and smoke, including the manager who had first acknowledged us. We placed our order, and watched it sit on the counter by the kitchen for seven minutes before a busboy brought it to our table-that's correct, a busboy. Our waitress, [snip], returned to our table a grand total of four times during the entire visit.

We added to our order, finished eating and asked for our check. When we entered the restaurant, the sign out on the roadway said "$2.75 Crawfish," yet we were charged $3.99 per pound. I asked two employees to have a manager come to our table, and finally, the manager who first greeted us arrived at the table. I explained our complaints and the difference in price, and was told "The price on the sign (was) only for Tuesdays." I informed him the sign did not indicate that the price was only valid on Tuesdays, and explained that I had come into the restaurant expecting to pay the advertised price. He offered to pay the difference to me in cash, which was an acceptable solution for me. He also acknowledged the problems with our waitress, and indicated that he was soon "going to be hiring new employees and she would be among the first to go." While waiting for the manager to return with the promised "refund," I signed my credit card slip which was retrieved by our waitress before the return of the manager.

It took a while, but the manager finally returned and stated that "the owner won't allow (him) to make the refund because everyone who eats (there) knows that the advertised special is only for Tuesday." This was my first and last visit to this restaurant, and I informed the manager as I was leaving that the restaurant was violating the law and I wouldn't be back. As I was leaving, the sign out by the roadside was changed-it now said "$39 Crawfish". That's not a typo. This shows the immorality the business intends to operate with.

Hmmm..if I would been there and had a black Sharpie...the sign would be saying something else after I left.
