Delta Airlines Complaint - Our mistake, your problem, Skymiles lies.
ORLANDO, FLORIDA -- I called to reserve a flight for my family using our skymiles. I explained to the agent that we would be transfering American Express points to our skymiles accounts to cover the differance in points. I asked the agent, not once but twice, how should I transfer the points. he stated, not once but twice, it did not matter since the three people traveling had Skymiles accounts and we could use their points. He recommended moving the points to my Skymiles account, instead of seperating the points.
When I called to book the reservation after transfer of the points, the agent stated that there was not enough points to purchase the tickets. She stated that I could not "transfer points between accounts" meaning that what I was told by the first Delta agent was wrong. When I explained that the first agent had told me, she stated I can't help you. After almost two hours of talking to supervisors and coordinators, all I got was we are sorry you were "misinformed" but there is nothing we can do. I decided to send a registered letter to Delta's CEO in response to their lack of accountability for their employees. Several weeks later, no response.
Delta admitts its employee had made a mistake but makes no effort to correct its own mistake. All I asked for was what they honor the points, which sufficently covered the tickets. I have since been forced to purchase tickets through another airline in order to keep my other reservations intact and not lose any more money. What happened to customer service and accountability? This tops all the screw-ups I have tolerated from Delta. I will assure you I am finished with Delta and hope that they will never see another dime of my money, to include tax money to keep them alive.
