Wal-Mart Informative - Medical Leave/Maternity Leave
CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE -- I have currently been on medical leave/ maternity leave. I delivered my daughter on feb 20, 2004...the doctor filled out my necessary paperwork prior so that I was on medical leave, putting that I would return 4/10/04, exactly 6 weeks. I returned to the doctor on the 4th to get my actual release which at that time my daughter and I had a severe cold. He released me but understood that I didn't feel comfortable leaving my sick baby, so he left my return date blank for me to fill in when we got better. I went in on the 8th to pick up my paycheck and find out about returning to work the front end assistant manager told me to come back whenever.
Well I got a call from personal Saturday the 17th, which I returned Sunday the 18th and was informed that my medical leave was up, I was suppose to be back at work on the 10th (since that was the date my doctor put on my medical forms prior to delivery) and that the same assistant manager wanted to terminate my employment. Why didn't she say anything when I was in there on the 8th about my returning the 10th? She didn't even want to talk to me about my availability change or anything. I think that WalMart needs to look at some of their poor management, I have been at WalMart as an associate for almost 3 yrs..and this is the 2nd manager to make me want to quit. Does anyone have any advice for me on how to handle this? I am going in Monday the 19th and turn in my release, but am worried she is going to retailate against me once I return.
