Baumann Chevrolet Fremont,OH Complaint - Outrageous labor charges

Review by nuke1 on 2004-04-21
FREMONT, OHIO -- I took my 1995 Buick into the dealership for rotating, balancing tires and front end alignment. I was also having a rumbling vibration when applying the brakes aggressively. I was charged $177.23 for the rotation, balancing and front end alignment. $150.00 was labor and they did replace a lug stud. The work order stated they could not reproduce the vibration/rumbling. Taking the car out after repair and checking, the rumbling was consistent after every brake application. I feel that because I was from out of town, they greatly over charged for their work, and did not locate a very prevalent problem. I would never go back to them to straighten any of this out. This is just a warning to others. I have learned my lesson.

Well let's see Front end alignment usuall is about .7 of an hour four wheel alignment is approx. 1.0 - 1.5 labor hours depending on the car, removal of stud in the area of .3 labor hours and the balance of tires is usually .5 labor hours. I come up with between 1.5 and 2.3 hours depending on which alignment you had done. If the dealers labor rate is around $75.00 an hour then their rate seems fair. The rumbling noise you hear could be a few things, Question, Doews the brake pedal pulsate when you apply the brakes? If you reply I will try to help.

$177.23 is a fair price for the services performed, considering the time they took to test drive it as well, I'd say you got a bargain.
Get in the real world my friend.
