Atlantic Relocation Inc. Informative - Altantic Relocation Inc.

Review by djonbrooks on 2009-05-18
ATLANTA, GEORGIA -- First off- make sure you don't confuse Atlantic Relocation Inc. with Atlantic relocation systems. We had many issues and problems with Atlantic Relocation Inc. Over the phone I was given a quote price for our house. We were asked how big our house was, how many rooms, expected packed boxes, etc. Based on all the questions, a quote was given. On the day of our move-out, no indication was given to us that we might get charged more. It was not until about 85% of our stuff was packed and on the moving truck that we were told it would cost substantially more. We were charged twice as much as our quote. Had we known it would be so expensive, we would have chosen a different company. There was nothing we could do after all of our stuff was on the moving truck. Other problems: they were a few hours late to our house, they broke a ceiling fan light fixture while packing, and they were there for many more hours than they first told us, and they left their moving supplies and wrappers all over our house when they left. Throughout the process we were not communicated to until it was over. We tried calling their management at the company and they were completely uncooperative and unapologetic. We were hoping to make a compromise with them based on all the difficulties and obstacles we encountered, including compensation for the broken ceiling fan light fixture, and they could care less. After packing everything up, the company had all of our stuff in storage until we called them to have it moved to our new location (a different state). When we called to get our stuff moved out of storage we were surprised to find that we also had to pay more for storage than originally quoted. Our estimate was for $2000 and ended up costing $4000 - we were charged twice as much as our original quote, and we were never notified of this. I would absolutely not recommend this moving company to anyone.

Thanks for taking the time to warn other people about this company, you might save someone from a similar terrible experience.

Atlantic Relocation has HORRIBLE reviews online and appears to have already changed their name once at least to avoid problems associated with their incompetant service.

Something else you might consider doing is to file a complaint with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration on their web site:

http://nccdb.fmcsa.dot.gov/HomePage.asp

Or you can call:

toll free Hotline number 1-888-DOT-SAFT (368-7238) Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM EST

They have been reported there previously and have dismal grades alongside the national average. I'm sorry you had a bad experience.

Although I hope not but if I'm ever involved in another move, I'll certainly avoid this company. I'm wondering about something. Even though I wasn't responsible for the charges, I've been in more than one state to state move. In each case the moving company came out to see exactly what had to be transported and gave a written estimate. I'm not excusing the high costs, but how can an estimate be given for a move over the telephone? Just wondering...

They are a piece of work, Ponie. They actually provide online and phone quotes and then rip the customer 6 ways from Sunday once they have their stuff in the van.

Even customers with signed quotes claim that once the move is well under way, they "suddenly" announce that its going to cost much more than originally quoted. If you don't comply, they just take your stuff and shove it into storage. And then start charging storage fees.

They've also been court ordered to quit using the Atlantic Relocation name...because it is so similar to Atlantic Relocation SYSTEMS - a company with an extremely good rep. It makes it hard to differentiate online when you look them up to see what kind of mover they really are.

From what I can tell online, Atlantic Relocation Systems spends half its time running around online letting people know that its is NOT them...

Someone needs to shut these people down.
