Priceline.com Informative - Know what you're getting
COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA -- I saved a ton by using the "Name Your Own Price" service through Priceline.com. Got an excellent deal, only $45/night at a very decent hotel in an area where hotels start at over $100/night on a good day. The hotel was clean, comfortable, good location, nice pool. That said, users should be aware that: the hotel that accepts your offer very well could be the worst one in that class; if you want a 3 star hotel, the one that you get will probably feel more like a 2 star (so aim high); and, you CAN'T CAN'T CANT'T cancel or change for any reason whatsoever. I was very nervous when after naming my own price I saw that the hotel I was stuck with accepted pets. I typically nix this type of hotel from my search but there was no way to do that with the Name Your Own Price feature. Fortunately, it wasn't a problem. Would I use it again? If I had to travel unexpectedly and/or on a tight budget, yes. Otherwise, no because there's no way to filter. I'll continue to use Priceline.com, just not the Name Your Own Price. I'm more picky than I realized. Hope this was helpful.
