American Airlines Complaint - Lost Baggage
DALLAS, TEXAS -- In March 2009 I flew to Canada and on my return to Dallas on April 11 09 my luggage didn't arrive. I followed the procedures patiently and politely. I called almost daily to check on my bags, after 3 days they said they were found and being forwarded, but only one bag arrived. My large bag with 6400 worth of stuff and 5 handmade custom quilts was lost. Also some expensive clothes and makeup were in the bag. I was handed to a different dept and told they would take 10 weeks to sort through and locate my bag. Then it would move to claims. After 8 weeks I received a letter from Central Baggage Services PO box 619613 MD HDQ DFW Airport TX 75261-9613. I called AA Lost baggage again to ask for the claims dept contact info but they said I could only write to them. After a couple calls they gave me the fax number 972 425 0714. They gave no explanation why my claim was denied, and I was assured through the whole process that 98% get their bags back. I'm sure that some employee must have kept my bag I had my address inside and outside and also had my husbands passport and some of my identifying papers. Its been a big headache and caused a lot of stress and sleeplessness! I am in the process of appealing the decision because:
"According to paragraph 3 of section II of Title IV of FAA code, if your luggage is delayed for four days, you have the right to a full refund of the fare you paid for your flight as well as vouchers for 4 additional flights, plus full compensation for the lost luggage."
