Tax Inc Complaint - Tax Inc Complaint - Company Promises Help With Liens, Back Taxes

Review by never give money on the internet on 2009-05-22
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA -- TaxInc.
8075 W 3rd Street
Ste. 407
Los Angeles, CA 90048

I enlisted this company’s help in February 2006, paying $2,500.00 to help me lift a lien on our credit report. I discovered such lien when I was applying for a mortgage. Your company stated they would be quick as they were informed I wanted this done ASAP, as I was in mortgage process. I have had 3 different “counselors” who have never returned a call. I called the last one on 21 March to urge action. I was told she was out ill and leave a message and someone will call me back that day. As usual, no one called. I was panicked as my bank wouldn’t approve a mortgage until lien was lifted. I had no choice but to go to the IRS in Syracuse, NY. I paid the lien off ($9030.04). I am now approved and bought our house.

I finally reported them to the BBB of Los Angeles, they stated 99 complaints were filed against Tax Inc. When I finally got through, one woman told me "if I dropped our complaint, maybe we could talk about my money". I refused.

I tried several times to terminate relationship with this company to no avail. Not only would no one call me back, they would actually hang up on me when I call and ask for my money back.
They advertise they have lawyers on staff. After a year and a half, a Mr Grossman, an accountant, made an inquiry into my IRS debt that I already paid!

They use logos like CNN, MSNBC, ESPN to instill consumer confidance. I am sure they have no such affliation.

I suggest that you contact your state's Office of the Attorney General.

They have no right to keep your money for performing no service, nor use extortion tactics like we'll only return your money if you drop the complaint.

A few observations.
First, save the AG complaint. This happened in early 2006. Whatever rebuttal the company sends against your complaint will close this. To have waited 3 years will not be taken that serious.
Second, you needed to solve your tax problems probably way too quickly. The Government doesn't work very fast. To hire these guys in Feb and expect the IRS to have worked everything out with them by March is not going to happen too often. If Tax Inc promised differently, that's a legit beef.
Third, in hind site, I would have pulled back the complaint to get them to talk refund. You probably have no complaint based on the Contract with you and them anyway, and one more or less from 99 means nothing. In fact, saying you are satisfied to a BBB complaint you filed doesn't even delete the complaint. It would have stayed there anyway.
99 complaints is high. They don't sound like the best at their craft.

The AG has taken the case. We waited 3 years due to deployment to Iraq. They did promise to resolve my issue and took our money in less than 48 hrs. Then it was the circus clowns and "counselors" that played the game. They are back on the internet after being off for awhile. I'm glad - now we can find them again.
I talked refund within 24hrs. They continued to hang up.
NO callbacks. I have to admit the stupidity on my part, but was "green" as far as internet scams are concerned; now I know...
