Cadillac Complaint - CTS Bad Battery... Luxury Not So Luxurious

Complaint
Review by Portugese Princess on 2009-05-25
SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA -- I have a 2003 Cadi CTS and I have had battery issues but when I call the dealership they seem to think its just me. My car just dies when I was at the grocery store and it won't event catch a charge and when I tried to turn it, I get a clicking noise. At First the radio or nothing wouldn't start I charged it and checked the battery volts and it went from 9.3 to 13.5 now the radio will come on but it still won't start. Would this be a recall because when I checked online I see a lot of different reviews about the battery. I had no problems when I had my standard eclipse. Once I moved up to luxury it hasn't be so luxurious.

I have gone through two brand new batteries an di don't want to have to buy another one it hasn't even been a full two years. What do I do?

Have your charging system checked as well. If this battery has lasted two years and is just now failing and this same thing has happened before I would wonder do you leave something on and kill the battery frequently?

If the battery is allowed to go completely dead it will shorten its life tremendously.

Such as subwoofer or amplifier.

I think if it was the car, you would have had a problem as soon aS you put the new battery in 2 years ago. If the car was starting each day, especially if it starts after sitting a couple days, then it probably isn't the car draining it inexplicably. The first battery lasted from 2003 to around 2007. That's about right. I think you just got a bad second battery.

What is so hoity-toity about a Cadillac? It is nothing but a tricked out Chevrolet.

Batteries are hard to determine the problem. A couple of things that you wrote causes me to say this.

Take both battery cables off (usually it is the negative cable) and see if there is some "corrosion". If so wash with baking soda and water and scrub with a tooth brush or a steel brush if you have one. Rinse and tighten the cables very snug and see what happens. I have done this many times when I find people with a car that won't start and clicks.
