Allstate Insurance Complaint - Website Fraud At Allstate
I visited the Allstate Insurance website to set up a policy for car insurance. I completed all of the information requested, including my billing information. At the end of the session I received an error message stating that the request could not be processed online, and it gave me a number to call. I did so, and set up my policy. At the conclusion of the call, I authorized Allstate to transfer the down payment from my checking account. Afterwards, I checked my bank statement and found that the original online request also deducted a down payment in addition to the one I completed on the phone. I called the company and was passed from person to person several times before they told me it would be 48 hours before they could process the refund. At the end of this period I called back and was informed that it would be 19 days before I would see my money returned to me. Their reason was that it needed time to process through the system. It only took them seconds to wrongfully take my money, but it will take them weeks to return it? Meanwhile, my checking account is now in overdraft and my budget is screwed. I wonder how many other people are being "processed through the system" while they await the return of their funds from a "website error"? My guess is that Allstate is holding thousands of dollars that does not belong to them in order to beef up their bottom line, and there is nothing the consumer can do about it. So much for "in good hands", what a joke.
Damage Resulting = Checking account overdraft and an inability to purchase day to day necessities like gas and groceries. We live paycheck to paycheck and Allstate is fraudulently holding nearly half a weeks pay.
