Sears Complaint - Microwave Madness
LEMON GROVE, CALIFORNIA -- I purchased a ventless microwave for my new home 3 years ago. On Wednesday May 20th I had an appliance repairman out to look at my 3 yr old Ge $600 microwave as it was not turning on at all. Turns out it had a thermostat out 1 out of 3 that needed replaced. Ok fine, I then ask the man to install my new charcoal filter that the computer on the microwave told me needed replaced. I found that out from the microwave and then found out that mine did not come with the charcoal kit sold separately even though I told the salesperson we did not have a vent system. That is why my smoke alarms were going off every time I used the vent and my ceiling was getting all greasy. Well it gets better. The repairman tells me he can install the filter but it won't do me any good... I said why not? Because you fan is not installed correctly. I said what? In the instructions it clearly shows 3 installation ways for the fan, 1 for ceiling vent, 2 for wall vent, and 3 recirculation for ventless microwave.
My repairman not a Sears repairman fixed my microwave and my vent issue. I called Sears for a refund and I was told well its been 3 years.....i said if my microwave had not broken I still would not have known it was not installed properly. I asked the lady if she crawled in the cupboard and looked down the vent to see if the fan was right after her microwave installation. They want me to call the installation people as they sometimes use secondary companies. I said I was calling the company I paid my installation fee too and that she could call the installation people not me and she told me she could not help me.
This is very poor customer service not too mention Ge should be upset as all along I thought the microwave vent sucked instead it was just Sears installation service.
