UUA Complaint - Terrible customer service and consumer rights

Review by josephlyons on 2004-04-18
PORTLAND, OREGON -- We've had Sprint PCS for over 3 years and are glad to be rid of them. Things to watch out for:

1) Overbilling. We signed up for nights and weekends and they failed to follow through and then went on to charge us $200 in overage charges. We sent them documentation twice and they never responded and claimed they didn't receive it.

2) Cancellation. When you cancel service you are forced to pay through the end of your billing cycle. No pro-rated credit as they do when you set up your service. Since we are required to pay a month in advance, the consumer is basically forced to pay for services they may not use - and in our case when we lost our cel phone and decided to switch, there was no consolation. One idea though is to change service plan .
3) Charge for Payment. They have had problems with their online payment system and when we've been forced to pay over the phone they have charged us an additional $5 before service is cut off. We set up online payment each month and the website shows that this set up but then no payment is made. Totally frustrating and have spent many minutes on the phone working this out.

Overall, Sprint PCS can be useful and they have okay coverage, but they are scamming customers for every penny possible.
