Why Does My Comcast Home Networking Service Cut Off And On During Use?
TENNESSEE -- Been a problem for 2 years. Comcast has sent at least 4 techs to fix the problem. Only one fixed it for a few months, now it's happening again. The connection is broken at various times during the day and night, which of course means I have to reload the sites and usually reboot the computers. I use a desktop and 2 notebooks. They all go out. I asked to have the Netgear Gateway replaced last March but the last tech to come to the house said he'd found the problem, something about a wrong setting in the box outside the house? But now tt is May and the problem is back. I have heard Netgear is a pain, so maybe it is the netgear Gateway. Inferior merchandise?
But I was wondering if it may be electrical in the house system itself. Netgear is plugged into a surge strip. How sensitive is it to electrical fluctuations? The other appliances show no disturbance. The computers themselves are fine. But is Netgear more sensitive perhaps? I though I noticed the problem occurring when the thermostat kicks on and off but at other times too not just the thermostat. Has anyone heard of this before? That Netgear is so super sensitive to electrical fluctuations? If so is that because there is something wrong with the Gateway? Or is this being caused by something else altogether that I have no possible way of knowing about. After all 4 techs couldn't find it. But none of them suggested an electrical problem in the house wiring either.
Anyway it's enough to give a nervous breakdown, especially if I am trying to make a forex trade online!!!
Must say Comcast customer service seems to be improving, at least a little. The recent phone reps seem to be a little more considerate and helpful than some I have talked with in the past. It used feel like a flim flam. And billing errors were absolutely atrocious... And trying to fix the errors was a nightmare in itself. But then again my only other choice for hi speed is AT&T DSL, let's not go there!!!!!
So any feedback would be appreciated.
