Credit Card - Complaint
Review by Big mama2 on 2009-05-29
PASADENA, CALIFORNIA -- I signed up for a credit card when it arrived I called to activate it. They told me I had to send them income verification. I did and then when I tried to call back I could find my credit card. I told them and I filed a lost or stolen claim. They told me they would send me another card and that I was not responsible for that card and when the new card came I could activate that one. The new card never came so after several months I told them to forget it I don't want the credit card. They said I was not responsible for that card and then a year later they placed it on my credit report for almost $400. and I never activated the card or used it.

Now I can't reach them to get it off my credit. They really suck because of them I have seriously bad credit cause it is listed on my credit as open account.

The $400 is most likely a combination of their one-time set-up fee ($97), one-time program fee ($90), annual fee ($48) and their $15 per month fee. You called to activate the card and provided the income verification they requested at which time the probably activated your account. Then you lost the card and waited several months before closing the account.

If they said that you would not be responsible for the missing card, they should not back out on your word.

I suggest that you send a letter of dispute to the credit bureaus in certified mail.
