CoreComm Complaint - CoreComm is the Rudest, Most Ignorant Company Around! - Fraudulent Internet Account

Fraudulent Internet Account - Complaint
Review by DSILBER on 2009-05-29
Someone opened a fraudulent account in my name but used someone else's checking information. I called CoreComm numerous times to get this straightened out and 3 times their employees have hung up on me instead of trying to help, they basically told me "too bad, the account is in your name, you need to pay it". I sent a letter to their corporate office, no response, I sent a complaint to the Better Business Bureau and they wouldn't even respond to them. They send me cards and letters every week which must be costing them a fortune. Oh well CoreComm, I'm not going to respond to you anymore, you don't have any of my credit information and I've tried to be nice, so you can try for years to get your money but you are not getting it from me.

I suggest contacting your state's Office of the Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division.

The fact that they know this is fraud and they don't care is completely messed up, and something tells me that they intend to use this to damage your credit.

Thanks for the info, they don't have any of my credit info so they can't damage my credit. Whoever opened the account just used my name and old address.

I'll keep this in mind and may contact them in future!

With your name and address, they could send that to collections and that may potentially be enough for the collection agency to be able to go after you and your credit. I wouldn't take this lightly if I were you.

As long as they didn't use your SS#, don't worry about it. I don't think anything can be reported against your credit without your SS#...If I'm wrong about that and someone knows otherwise for sure, I'd like to know.

How did you find out about this account? Did someone contact you about it?

I found out about the account when I got a letter from them (forwarded from my old address) that said the account was past due. I immediately called them to let them know that this wasn't my account and they were very rude and one of their customer service agents hung up on me!!

Ok, I was wondering if they contacted you though your SS#. If they don't have your SS#, as I said, I don't believe they can put it on your credit report. Don't give them your phone number for them to start calling you.
