Sears Service Complaint - Sears Service Is A Joke...
CORAL SPRINGS, FLORIDA -- My 4yr old Maytag Neptune FAV6800 purchased at Sears with a 3yr extended warranty from Maytag failed on me last weekend (final spin cycle not working). I scheduled a Sears service visit last Tuesday, but the earliest appointment they had available was for today, Friday. Their clueless technician showed up with an attitude, saying this machine was too old (!) and asking my wife repeated times why didn't she purchase additional extended warranty. After staring at his laptop for a long while, he came up with a $1,004.40 estimate (I am not kidding; I have it in writing). In his opinion both electronic control boards are dead as well as the clutch assembly. Well, after replacing these three major components, there is really nothing left inside of the machine, so I could have done that myself without calling an "expert". The Sears joker left my house with a $70 check in his pocket without having done anything other than making fun of me and my wife inside of our own house. I later replaced the clutch assembly myself which completely solved the problem for $150. I sent an email to Sears complaining about their repairman, but all they offered me was a discount in the store if I decided to purchase a new washer from them, since the "old" one was not worth fixing in their opinion.
What a big joke Sears Service has become. And you can't even get a manager with truthful respect for their customers to share your story. This is the last time I rely on Sears for anything.
