Norwegian Cruiseline Informative - Nickel and Dimed
Review by OceanLover on 2009-05-30
First off I should say we were in a suite and received concierge service. Without this the trip would have been a disaster. Most of the restaurants on board require a service charge and even then some of the menu items require still another service charge. The "free" dining rooms are usually full. There were long lines just to get beepers. Yes, you can make reservations. We made ours through the concierge and had no problems. Others told us the reservation lines for the non-suite passengers were always busy and it was difficult to make reservations. The food was bland and the menu never changed. Service was slow. By the end of 7 days I was sick of the same old food. They simply cannot handle crowds. Pushing and shoving to get off at ports and end of cruise. Nickel and dimed at every turn. A lot of the activities were listed as "nominal fee applies". If you consider $55 a person for a behind the scenes tour nominal.
At the beginning of each show staff hawked raffle tickets like a carnival show. Not enough crew. One person in the entire photo area - he was overwhelmed. The lounge on deck 14 for suite passengers was often overrun by kids.
