Sears Compliment - Refrigerator Died after 8 years
PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND -- On April 27, our refrigerator sounded like someone left the garbage disposal on. I called their toll free repair number. They stated it would cost $250.00 to repair it or give my a $500 credit for a new refrigerator. They were suppossed to come out May 29th by 5 pm. I called at 4pm to see where the repairman was, they told me it would be awhile he had two other customers to see. He checked it and stated it would cost $377 to fix which is ridiculous since it cost $700 plus the maintenance agreement in 2000. We said give us the voucher, he said we would get a call the next day. I called, they said, I would get the voucher on Tuesday, a week later. It only got worse from there.
The sales kid, nice kid, dumb as stump does not know anything about refrigerators tried to appease me. If you are going to try to calm me down give me machine I paid for and expect at least 20 years from. I went on their site to complain and while on the phone with the customer service reps who are offshore and don't have a clue how annoying they are. I had one girl tell me she wanted to put me on hold to transfer me and I told yes and she stated it two more times. I told her get me her supervisor. I was angry because the damn refrigerator died after 8 years. Who ever heard of a refrigerator dying in such a short time? Until I started reading this site. The whole ordeal about getting the new refrigerator has disgusted me with Sears.
A customer care representative stated he would give me 20% of the amount spent on this offer. He can't do math, we this cost us $674.99 minus the $250 I paid for the credit they state they gave me for the repair call. The 20% in the Sears reps mind is $51.00 I estimate closer to $120. I am waiting for all rebates before I write the CEO of the company. How Sears handled this from beginning to end is the end of my relationship with Sears. I am forty eight and have bought numerous products from them for years. I bought my parents a 30 cup coffee pot in 1972 that is still working fine. It is that avocado green color but it works. Sears better get the products back up to acceptable standards QUICKLY, and make all customers like me whole and make sure it NEVER happens again.
I don't mind paying more for a great product, stop with the Master Protection agreements they are just a money grab. I did buy it on the refrigerator when we first bought it. What a waste of money. I should have know better, they need to sell those at the 15 year mark when parts will need to be replaced instead of hoodwinking the public.
