Planet Auto Mall Complaint - Planet Auto Mall Are Scammers

Review by jerrybrisco on 2009-06-01
I called Planet Auto Mall about a car that I had seen on the internet. I was assured late on Saturday afternoon that the vehicle was available and I made an appointment to see it Sunday morning. I drove over 2 hours and when I got there, of course the car was 'unavailable', They tried to show me another one very similar to the one I had originally come to see. The only difference was that it was 1 year older, had more miles, and was $2,000 more expensive.

Where's the similarity? I was totally disgusted with the place and plan to notify the BBB and the Atty. General of the state of CT regarding the luring of CT consumers to their dealership. Do you believe that I got 2 emails on Monday asking how my visit to Planet Auto Mall was? I'll bet that they didn't like the answer.

I noticed you had two posting on here for two different dealerships. Sounds like you didn't get what YOU wanted and now you're placing the blame on them for bad business practices.

As for the car you called them and asked if it was available before you made the 2 hour trip. What if someone else beat you to the punch and purchased it before you got there... What if you got there are realized it was not the car for you.. Would that still be the dealerships fault?

Sorry, it just had to be said...

nofriend, since the OP had an appointment to see this particular car the dealership had an obligation to let the op know the car was not available. If the dealership is not going to have the car the person wanted to view why bother to have appointments.

Yoke - I understand where you're coming from. In this economy they are going to sell the car to the first buyer. There were no down payments no commitments on this persons part, other than they were coming to see the car.
It is what it is...

The dealership should have called the person to cancel the appointment when they knew they did not have the car available. The dealership lied to the OP.
