Target Complaint - Target Credit Cards are a rip off
MINNESOTA -- My wife and I vacationed in Florida as we often do in the winter months for 3 months. When we leave we leave our forwarding address in Florida for all our mail to be forwarded and it always has been.
This past winter we were getting our mail as usual including our various credit card bills (3) When we returned home in March we received a bill from Target Credit Card (Visa) stating that because we had failed to make our last payment we now owed $32 in penalties and late fee. I explained that we had received a bill and it apparently had been lost in the mail during the forwarding process by the USPS. They were not moved by my explanation, but eventually offered to lower the charge to $14. As I have never failed to make a payment late in my life and I am 67 years old, I insisted they drop the charge altogether. They refused and I then cancelled my Target Credit Card and will no longer buy from Target although I would like to as it is a Minnesota based company where I live.
They stated they would be notifying the credit bureau. I don't know if this was a veiled threat or what. It seems to me that a corporation as large as Target would be able to control the company (Visa) concerning their customers. Used to be customers.
