SpiritAir Complaint - Why Is This Airline Still Allowed To Operate?!!!
This is my first and my last time booking a round trip flight or any flight with Spirit Air. I booked my flight leaving New York to Fort Lauderdale in advance for Friday, May 29th, 2009 at 6:40am on their website. Only to learn that my flight was cancelled and was told that it was for corporate reasons when I asked the person AT the spirit air counter. The other passengers there were then informed except for a different reason, saying that it was because the plane never arrived New York furthermore saying they new by 12am midnight. They failed to contact anyone at that time. The service representative also stated that their customer calls were forwarded to India, and I quote "They don't even know the reason why". The next available flight was at 11:40am and they had a 10am flight that was OVERBOOKED.
The information about flights on the wall was not updated and didn't have the 10 am flight listed as a possibility. Everyone at the airline was rude, uninformed, and unjustly. I was inconvenienced by having to cancel the trip and book a later flight with another airline, payed more because it was on the spot. (and no they don't make arrangements with other airlines) They also charge extra for seating and checked bags. This airline is a scam. I was given two options, cancel my flight, or depart at 11:40am. Talk about options.
Moral of the story... save yourself the headache, the time, energy, money, and avoid flying at all cost with this airline. Don't take any chances when your planning a business trip or if you have an itinerary planned where your going or for any reason all together. I will remain with Jet Blue where their flights DEPART on time, don't charge you extra for seats or your first checked baggage.
