Dish Network Complaint - Twice Subscribed To Dish, And Now Twice Cancelled After Horrible Service
I first switched to Dish Network about 8 years ago and following questionable and flatout wrong billing errors that took forever to correct I cancelled my service. Then I went back to Dish when I purchased a high-def television two years ago. Well lo and behold, the same problem I had with billing errors arose again. I was overcharged three times and each time I corrected this via direct call to the customer service. The initial billing error was caught accidentally when I realized I was paying $10 above my normal bill for upgraded service they automatically added seven months earlier, which I DID NOT request. On the third month of wrong billing I again called customer service and as was my first experience years earlier, I had a flatout uncooperative, rude, unprofessional snotty customer representative who basically told me I was wrong and there was nothing I could do about it. So my service contract ends month-end June 2009 with my last payment sent in May.
So I call to cancel my service (BECAUSE I SWITCHED TO DIRECT TV), and I was wrongly informed by the customer service representative that I had an automatic renewal of two years of programming effective December 2008. WRONG! I had a faulty receiver replaced in December and they automatically had me listed as a new two-year subscriber from that point. I told the customer representative she was wrong, that I had the receipt for that service in my hand (which I did) and that no where in that service agreement did it say I automatically renewed my two-year programming subscription. So she basically says I'm wrong and that it's in the paperwork she's reading. She then says she'll have to talk to a supervisor to see if she can proceed with my cancellation. She comes back and says, well, yes, you are correct.
The service renewal information is not in that form you have, "but it is in the new service forms we have now." So she processes my cancellation and now I'm FINALLY off the hook with these aggressive, mean-spirited, shady representatives with this horrible satellite provider. I promise, if any of you want headaches and constant problems with billing and hateful customer reps, DO NOT EVER ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH DISH NETWORK. They operate in a manner that is borderline fraudulent and on any problem you have they will screw you around until you are blue in the face.
Do what I did. Go to DIRECT TV.
