Delta Airlines Complaint - Excess Baggage Charges on Surfboards
We have traveled for years with our surfboards all over the world and understand the need for excess baggage fees etc. Delta's new policy on surfboards is simply outrageous and has to be reported as price gouging! First time that we are using Delta to fly to South Africa (usually fly South African Airlines)on a surf trip and are being told that each surfboard is subject to a $300 one way fee. We bring 3 surfboards in a surfboard bag which fits within the size and weight regulations of over sized baggage! That is a one way cost of $900 or $1800 return! The entire ticket to South Africa from the US is only $1200. We have reviewed every major airline in the US and the highest we have found was Continental who charges $400 for surfboard bags with 3 boards. It is simply outrages to pay $900 dollars to bring your boards. Anyone have ideas on how to report such policies to the proper authorities?
