Marriott International Informative - Marriott Waiohai
POIPU, HAWAII -- I am an owner at the Maui Ocean Club. Was told when I purchased that Maui was one of the top properties in Marriotts portfolio, and that would provide Advantage when trading for other resorts. This has been shown over and over to be untrue.
When I checked-in at Waiohai Beach Club on Kauai, they stuck us in the back of the resort. I asked for a different room and was told they were at capacity and only Waiohai guests could have the other rooms. I arrived at 10:00 pm after 12 hours of travel, which was 3:00am my home time, so I begrudgingly agreed to take the room.
Since most children were still in school at this time of year, and we noticed that the parking lot was half empty, and the pool and public areas had few people, it seems unlikely they were at capacity or anywhere close.
By the way, beginning at 3:3o am the many roosters beneath our building/room, beginning crowing, incessantly. They continue crowing until about 6:30 am. Unbelievable.
To make matters worse, this resort, on and island, on a beach, with a swimming pool centerpeice asks you to wash your own towels each evening. No towels available at the pool.
Sweet, pay big bucks to fly to Hawaii to do laundry and get interrupted sleep every night. Not to mention being lied to when we spent thousands to purchase our timeshare.
Once again, Marriott purchases an idyllic location like Poipu on Kauai, and then a shows a post office like ambivalence towards their guests.
Buyer Beware if you are thinking about a timeshare with Marriott. It gets worse...
