Chase Bank Complaint - Crazy Overdraft Fees
WESTERVILLE, OHIO -- It is really criminal the way banks can charge overdraft fees. I switched to Chase because they said I could use my kids savings account as overdraft protection for my checking account. Then I received multiple fees for debit card purchases. They reimbursed me for those 5 fees and then said I was given wrong information, that only my savings could be linked. In the mean time, my debit card allowed purchases when my checking had a $0 balance and then I got $1,819.00 in overdraft fees since Dec. 26,2008. I talked to the Manager and he said that he couldn't reimburse any of it because it wasn't a bank error. Of course it is a bank error. The bank should deny purchases when the account is near $0!!! I explained that I am Bi-Polar and my medicine is being adjusted to stop the impulsive buying and that my doctor can provide a note and my Mother is going to take over my accounts.
It didn't matter. I live on $1226 a month and pay $750 in rent. I know it would be easier to control my money if the debit cards would just deny purchases.
