Lowe's Complaint - Lowe's Set My House On Fire
DEPTFORD, NEW JERSEY -- My wife and I purchased a washer/dryer combo from the Lowe's store in DeptFord, NJ and paid an additional $65. for professionally trained installation. We were expecting uniformed Lowe's employee's in a Lowe's truck and what we got was 2 Mexicans, one of which did not speak English, in a Budget rent-a-truck. They installed the washer/dryer and left. Exactly two weeks later we had an electrician in our home to upgrade our electric service for the installation of central air conditioning. Upon re-energizing the system the washer/dryer shorted and set our bathroom on fire due to the dryer not being grounded correctly. The next day we went to the Lowe's store to see what they would do and after calling three different people the young man at the service desk told us that "No one is answering their frigging phone." When we finally did get to speak to a manager he patiently listened to our story and promptly told us that Lowe's is not responsible for their deliveries, the privately contracted delivery company would have to be responsible for any bad installation.
To begin with I paid LOWE"S for Lowe's delivery services, not an independent delivery contractor. I paid Lowe's for 'trained professional installation' not for what I got. Why won't Lowe's accept responsibility for their installers?
