ExtenZe Complaint - Where are your Morals

Review by irritated & upset on 2009-06-12
Its getting so that you cannot watch television anymore without ever other commercial being from this company and their product. Its gone from advertising to just plain harassment, I go to where I use the remote to switch to another station just to not see them anymore, only to see it on another channel. I have friends and neighbors also complaining about them, and what of the children? Think its funny to explain to them what this product is? "WELL IT NOT" and you people in the advertising department taking these people on. Are you so desperate for money that you lower yourselves and the ratings of your company to keep this up?

You could at least have the decency to show these after midnight, like most respectful stations do. This is getting so bad that my wife and I are seriously considering using NetFlix and nothing else. Again I repeat. YOU PEOPLE ARE DISGUSTING.

Since advertisements are usually shown during programming where they will reach the most demographics for their product, what exactly are you watching?

I'm thinkin' Reno 911

I see this commercial a lot as well. Must admit, if my daughter was older I would not be comfortable with her asking me questions about it... Though I think it will be quite a few years before that happens.

Most younger children are in bed by 9pm (from families I know), and I think I only see this commercial after that (between 9 and whenever I go to bed). So that helps...

I just like the bad acting in those commercials... ;-)

Reno 911 is so funny! Those are not the best commercials, but I agree with Rob on the programming issue and can tell you that there are plenty of channels that you can switch to so that you don't see them.

Between the male enhancement commercials (over and over and over, the same commercial), the Trojan vibrating finger with the old lady "just get it online, I did!", the "call me now! i'm waiting" telephone sex lines and the Shop Erotic show on Oxygen...I can't even remember what regular programming is on late night...

I have to say though, I've never seen commercials for these in prime time and I love Smiling Bob even though his original boss was sentenced to 25 years for fraud.

I can safely say that I don't watch most cable channels after 10. I don't care to hear about that stuff, and I don't want one of my kids coming down (even though they are in bed at 9) and seeing it.

Really, all you have to do is tell them these things are for adults only and that will usually give in to their curiosity.

But I have noticed lately that the sexual innuendos in commercials has gotten worse over the past few years, even to the point where it's starting to get uncomfortable. I know everyone does it, but I was raised to believe that those things belonged in the privacy of the bedroom.

Guys, I was watching the morning news, basic station, and I saw a commercial like this with Santa (with two writhing females on his lap) selling just such a product. I understand some political people ARE trying to get commercials of this type moved to after hours. I have cats, but I am still appalled that they would air this at such an hour.
Posted by BokiBean on 2009-06-12:
I thought they WERE only for late night, and that's where they should be..if at all. Frankly, they're obnoxious...but you wouldn't believe the Shop Erotic show at 3 am. I'm still in shock over what they sell. Even at 3am.
Posted by Anonymous on 2009-06-12:
Boki, at least they are not showing *how* to use the products.

Posted by BokiBean on 2009-06-12:
True, MM. Maybe next year. ;)

I watch late night re-runs of House and Law&Order, and I see those ads constantly. The truly sad part is that they are only able to run them because so many *huge* losers are buying pills that they think will give them a bigger johnson. It's a sad commentary on our culture.

I agree Ken. It used to be woman who were slaves to body image issues but today not not so much especially with the prevalence of the reverse Pinocchio illusion of the male wedding tackle epidemic. I for one blame this on 70's talk show host Phil Donahue who attacked the centuries old notion that, "I'm male ergo I am perfect". We need to get back to our roots fellows.

Comedy Channel is eaten up with these ads on late night. Even Discovery has them.
Posted by bargod on 2009-06-12:
What? you mean it won't give me a bigger johnson? Damm...I hate returning stuff.
Posted by Anonymous on 2009-06-12:
Sorry, Bargod, but I speak from experience. I tried them for a year and never got much more than the 14" I started with.
Posted by Anonymous on 2009-06-12:
Ken, BA! LOL!
Posted by bargod on 2009-06-12:
Oh well..back to weights and chains again.
Posted by bargod on 2009-06-12:
14"!! it's freaks like you that give us 10 1/2 inchers a bad name.
Posted by Anonymous on 2009-06-12:
false advertising, never gotten over 14" either.

a legitimate gripe by a concerned parent that took a turn to the length of member's members. interesting indeed.

Best answer KingJames, having fun at anothers expense should never be allowed.

Huh?

I hate those commercials for Livelinks or similar "phone chats." You know the girls and guys who call that line don't look like they do on the commercials. A hot person doesn't need to call those numbers for a date
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2009-06-12:
Is this the commercial with 'smilin' Bob'...if not, that's another commerical that irriates me...and now they also have the KY Jelly commercials with the couple, ohhing and awwwing and acting stupid about how good it makes them feel. I don't blame parents for complaining. I mean, It is really embarassing for ME at 28, to be sitting there watching TV with my Dad and have these commercials come on. It really makes me uncomfortable.
These are shown throughout the day...it's not as if someone can say, "Well, your kids should be in bed at that time"...NO...they are not limited to after 10 or 11pm anymore.
Posted by Anonymous on 2009-06-12:
Those KY commercials are on during the day
Posted by Principissa on 2009-06-12:
Those are on during the day DB? What's up with that? We usually watch Noggin during the day and I'm hoping that I won't have to worry about seeing them on that channel!

Like I said, I'm by no means a prude, but things like that don't belong on daytime television when children will most likely be awake. I have no problems with after 9, but before then, they shouldn't be aired.
Posted by Anonymous on 2009-06-12:
Not as bad as seeing those erectile dysfunction Ads every 5 minutes.
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2009-06-12:
Yes Princi...ALL DAY! I'll have to take notice which shows I'm watching the next time they're on.

I can't believe the viagra commercials that turned "Viva Las Vegas" into "Viva Viagra"
Posted by BokiBean on 2009-06-12:
I think those KY commercials are cute! But I usually see them alone or with the better half, not a kid (ew) or a parent (ew too).
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2009-06-12:
People don't need that kind of crap anyway...if she's a desert and he's a softie...then just go to sleep, neither of them need it.
Posted by BokiBean on 2009-06-12:
Hahaha@DB! I think Viagra should come with a signed permission slip from the girlfriend or wife...
Posted by Anonymous on 2009-06-12:
I feel the same way about prozac. *Zzrokk agrees*
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2009-06-12:
Alright NOW what's with that King James ad on the right side of this review? Is he a poor sport? OF COURSE HE IS...and he's a poor LOSER! Now get his face off my monitor!
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2009-06-12:
Ok...it is now 5PM and I just heard the 'Smilin' Bob' male enhancement commerical on the TV in the living room...My Dad had just turned that channel on for the news.
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2009-06-12:
And....5:20pm 'Smilin Bob' is still smilin!
Posted by Anonymous on 2009-06-13:
I saw one this AM (9AM) on ABC. This is the cartoon hour! This one talked euphemistically about getting bigger.
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2009-06-13:
I think they know more men watch cartoons now than little kids..LOL!
Posted by Anonymous on 2009-06-14:
You ain't right, DB. LOL. Then again, that would describe the last four men I dated. *smacks own head*

Television and Madison Avenue don't care about good taste, morals, etc. They care about money only. They'll use any means as long as they can sell the product. I don't like it, but that's reality. Most of the over the counter male enhancement products are inert ingredients that depend on the placebo effect. That's how they avoid FDA rules. The FTC, however, has been exploring the use of fraud laws to regulate them somewhat. A personal unrelated note: what's wrong with liking cartoons? I learned most of my general chemistry and mechanical skills from Wile E. Coyote!

I just saw a commercial on TV at 6:59 PM Eastern time.. what happened to showing these after midnight? And the guy kept saying "sex is great now" and "sex is so much better".. I thought there was a law about having these commercials on early?
