Circle K, Memphis TN Compliment - Good Neighbor - Ice

Review by jktshff1 on 2009-06-14
MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE -- Friday, Memphis had some severe weather that left several thousand people without power. I was in line at my local Circle K when the cashier asked the customer in front of me how it was going. He replied "it will get better when I get my power back". The manager said "we are giving a cooler of free ice to people without power, just provide the cooler". Young man went to his truck, brought in a cooler and they filled it no charge.
Good neighbor to have. I will go there more often for my "quick shop" needs.

jkt, even though you live on the other side of our state, this is great!! Tennessee did not get the name 'volunteer state' for no reason. well actually during the civil war I think .....

hardships often bring people together.

More info on the nickname.
This nickname was earned, during the War of 1812, when thousands of Tennesseans enlisted in response to Governor Blount's call for volunteers. It also honors the courage of Tennessee soldiers fighting under General Andrew Jackson in The Battle of New Orleans (Jan 8, 1815).

That is a great thing for them to do. I love when people help one another!

Nice reminder there are still some businesses doing whatever they can for someone in a bad situation and good for you keeping them in mind for future purchases.

Very interesting on the volunteer nic too, I never knew how that name came about.

Who knew Circle K would be so community friendly? Nice review, jkt.

This is true neighbor helping neighbor in the community. In this case, the neighbor was Circle K. Small gesture on the part of Circle K equals a HUGE gesture to those who receive it. Thanks Jkt!

True John. I don't know how hot it is in TN but here, the trees are bribin' the dogs, and if we lost power now, ice would be a lifesaver, really.

People don't forget little things like that.

Jkt, I got some otter pops in my freezer. If your power goes out come to AZ and cool down with an otter pop.

No problem. Just one of the perks of living with kids. We always have otter pops, kool-aid, and mac and cheese on hand
