United Modification Group Complaint - Loan Modification Scam

Review by pixations on 2009-06-17
ROCKLIN, CALIFORNIA -- My wife started contacting United Modification Group because of financial stresses we have been experiencing, before we signed anything they took money from our one of our credit cards before we as a had the chance to discuss their program together, come to an agreement, and put our names to any consent agreement. When we found out they took the money already we promptly asked for a refund, and then haven't been able to get a serious response. I fear we are being ripped off and taken Advantage of. We still have not sent them any signed documents agreeing to our enrollment in their program, but they have taken $1750 from us anyway, and in some very tough times. I don't think a legitimate company would operate this way.

File an immediate dispute with your credit card company!!! I would discontinue any dealings with these folks. They do not sound on the up and up. BUT FILE THAT DISPUTE NOW!

The first sign that a firm is not legitimate: asking for a fee up front. In most states, it is illegal to collect a fee for loan information prior to making the loan.

And....

File a police report (if anything just for paperwork against them)
Contact the FTC
