Red Robin Complaint - High Price for Sub-Par Food

Complaint
Review by Principissa on 2009-06-17
Last Saturday me and the girls had a "Girls Night Out" and went shopping.

We decided on getting burgers and fries and came upon Red Robin. This was all of our first times eating at this particular chain and decided to try it.

The decor is nice, albeit the atmosphere is very loud. Not a big deal since we are all mom's and are used to an insane amount of noise.

Our order was simple, one Mushroom Swiss Burger, one Guacamole Bacon Burger, one California Chicken Burger, and a Crispy Chicken Burger. We also ordered two freckled lemonades and two Dr. Peppers.

It took 20 minutes to bring out our drinks, the lemonade I ordered was so sweet it made my teeth hurt. Yet the strawberries were bitter. I asked for a water.

When our food came 10 minutes later they gave us the wrong order. The table next to us got our food and we got theirs. After an argument with both the server and manager we finally got them to admit their error and waited another 30 minutes to give us new food.

We finally got our food and we were completely unimpressed. The burgers, while good, were certainly not worth $10.00 (US) we paid for them.

The toppings were plentiful, albeit too much in my friends Guacamole Bacon Burger. So much so that it actually took away the taste of the actual burger. I'm all for toppings on a burger, but not so much that I can't taste the meat.

The steak fries were just O. K. They were hot and crispy but lacked any kind of flavor. Even with salt the fries were still just bland. None of us wound up eating them.

My California Chicken Burger (no mayo) was good, again, not worth the $10.00 (US) I paid for it, but it was better than something you can purchase at a drive-thru.

All in all this restaurant wasn't worth it and we left disappointed with both the food and service.

The prices are way too high for what they are offering and certainly not worth it. You are and will be better off going to Culver's or even Burger King.

I love Red Robin, but have quit going there because of their prices. As you stated, while the food is good, it's not worth what they charge.

I stopped going to Red Robin because almost every time I had to send the burger back because it was either cooked wrong (one time the middle was still frozen), had toppings not ordered or the order took a very long time (40 minutes)to be delivered. Frankly $9 for a burger when it's not even fresh lean beef is way over-priced.

The portion size is also small, IMO. We went there 1 time and had to stop at BK on the way home because my boys were still hungry.

Agreed. Red Robin is good, however, not worth the price.

What makes a California chicken burger a California chicken burger? Guacomole?

I've been to a Red Robin once and was not impressed either.

They might have not been to one in over a year.

Thank you, Princi. They are opening a new Red Robin in Lakewood, just up the road from Lacey, and I think we will pass. We have a Norma's burgers here in Lacey that has what they call the John Wayne burger that has won prizes for the best burger in the country. For $7 it and the fries that come with it are more than I can finish at one sitting. I was not allowed to vote helpful, but two thumbs up here.

Star do yourself and your wallet the favor! For four of us to eat including drinks and tip it came out to over 65.00! Too expensive for a frozen patty heaped with so much topping you couldn't tell there was a burger in there!

I also wanted to know what freckled lemonaid was so I looked it up. Red Robin has the recipe online. It's basically lemonaid with strawberries in it. That makes sense when the OP said the lemonaid was too sweet but the strawberries were sour. Made my jaws hurt when I read that part [ouch]!

I won't eat at Red Robin after reading that they have some of the most fattening food compared to other chains. Princi, you're right that ya'll should have gone to Culvers. The food there is always really good.
