CALIFORNIA -- A little background to the situation. I was in an auto accident where I was ran off the road and the car that hit me did not stop. I had a concussion so the accident was written as a no fault by the police officer. Insurance companies do not care what actually happened or what a police report says they have their own recording system where if they can't blame another person for an accident they blame you.
I made the decision to move to progressive after receiving a quote that was about 10% lower than what I was currently paying in the questions they asked if I had any at fault accident's and I did not the way I saw things. I explained I had been in an accident and the details, (no lies only the truth)so I did not try to hide anything. I was told I told the file would need to be reviewed but not to worry by customer service there is was no way the information they where giving me could be incorrect. After a lot of reassurance I agreed and switched insurance. When I got my first bill it was $300 dollars higher than quoted.
Moral of story do not switch to any auto insurance until you have an approved rate in writing. Ultimately it was my fault for trusting an insurance company.
