Enterprise Rent-A-Car Complaint - Beware of charges for towing rental car when it breaks down
ORLANDO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, FLORIDA -- Rented a compact Kia Rio from Orlando Intl airport. On the morning when I was getting ready to drive back to the airport, the car would not start. I called their road side assistance, and the CS agent said it would cost $61 to jump start the vehicle. This is the first time I've ever heard about being responsible for the cost of towing a rental car for a mechanical breakdown. Finally, with the help of a cab driver I tried to jump start, but it did not work. Enterprise customer service insisted I could not leave the vehicle (it was parked safely in a Marriott Hotel parking lot) even if I had to miss the flight!! Finally, I had to take the kids and paid $50 for a taxi to get to the airport to avoid missing the flight. It took a while to convince the agent at the place where I rented that I had no choice but to leave the vehicle there.
Please be aware that you may be charged for towing your rental car if it has mechanical breakdown.
Does anyone else had similar experience with other Enterprise or other rental companies? Is this a standard business practice??
