Cricket Wireless Broadband Complaint - Filtered Service - Broadband

Review by timjackson on 2009-06-17
BEAVERTON, OREGON -- Be aware that Cricket wireless broadband blocks SMTP (simple mail transfer protocol) traffic. This means you will not be able to send POP3 outbound email from Outlook or Outlook Express. This is common at cheap hotels who don't want their free Internet access to be used by spammers.

This is not done by AT&T, Qwest, Comcast, Verizon, and other major ISP service providers.
It is clearly not real Internet access, and constitutes a bait & switch.

Cricket wireless internet is prepaid, correct? I cant wait to get my grubby hands on Virgin Mobile's Broadband2Go when it comes out at the end of June, which is prepaid wireless internet. Look out for my in-depth review soon.

Cricket wireless internet does not block smtp ports when using outlook express. I just sent one message from outlook express and received five two minutes ago.

Then their tech support lied.
Are you using a browser based email, or a MS Exchange server from your company email?
POP3 email will be blocked. Call them, go to second level tech support, and ask.
