TracFone Complaint - TracFone lies about available numbers to make you spend double
I live in western Ventura County, I purchased a tracfone and put in my zip code and they activated the phone with a 310 area code, I live in the 805 area code.
I contacted them, it took nine times and several hours; finally I was informed there were no more numbers available in the 805. I'm not an idiot, I know there are numbers available and so does the idiot on the phone who has yet to learn how to lie because her next sentence is: "If you send us a copy of your home phone bill showing 310 as a long distance call we will change the area code for you."
1. If there are no numbers available how are you going to change it once I prove it is long distance?
2. Why should I have to send you any of my personal information at all? Your marketing made no mention of this.
3. Why not just admit you gave me the long distance number because you want me to spend twice the amount of money on each call?
I solved the problem, I tossed the tracfone and my 90 minutes away and purchased a phone with a different company that provided me with a local number.
Basically tracfone ripped me off for about 55 bucks and after visiting the BBB site it is very clear they lie about local numbers on a regular basis in a deceptive attempt to get more money out of people. The customer service reps lie, can't speak English, and enjoy being rude to people on the phone and often hang up in the middle of a conversation.
Only losers use tracfones, people who like to pay twice what they should for a call, not to mention all those adds that they text to their users.
