Recently my granddaughter and I flew from Detroit to Disneyland. We chose US Air as they offered the times that we needed. We arrived at Detroit and pre-checked our luggage. Then the real problems began. Because of unforeseen circumstances, we didn’t arrive at the gate until 12 minutes prior to scheduled departure. The plane had already left-10 minutes ago, their policy states they can leave 20 not 22) minutes early. US Air could book us, the next afternoon. I asked for information on other flights but was told ‘WE don’t provide information on other air lines’.
Delta charged us $1370 for one way flight to L A. We arrived in LAX but US Air refused to release our luggage. After much cajoling and many threats by Disney, US Air finally released our luggage, 28 hours late. US Air canceled our return trip; to reinstate it cost us another $375. This is airway robbery. Our $600 flight turned into $2345. This customer service is unacceptable and I would encourage all who are contemplating using US Air or its affiliates US West and other Star Alliance members to choose another airline.
