Sunnyside Cafe Complaint - Nasty Food

Review by Bird88 on 2009-06-23
HIGHLANDS RANCH, COLORADO -- I had a horrible experience at the Sunnyside cafe. My eggs were fake, they lied to me and told me that I was getting fresh squeezed orange juice and I saw them poor it from a bottle.
I wanted to speak to a manager about my disguset with the food however I overheard, the OWNER, of all people refuse to talk to to my table. I have never been so disappointed by a privately owned restaurant in my life!!!!

How are eggs fake??
Posted by BokiBean on 2009-06-23:
Probably those nasty eggbeaters, or a product made from mixing powder and water. They taste just disgusting.

There is no substitute for the incredible, edible egg.

i've had powered eggs before in the military. they look somewhat like a white sand texture.

tho eggbeaters aren't really bad.

as for the juice bottle... was it a glass bottle? sometimes they squeeze it into a carafe to make it easier to pour

What is going on in my beloved state these days?!!
First poor Blather gets crammed into what he made seem like a highchair at "Outback" this past Sunday and then Bird88 gets served powdered eggs with a glass of "Sunny D" to boot!!
Thanks for the heads up on this despicable sounding place Bird, I'll stick with Denny's. (VH)

If the manager talked to a table, do you think the table would answer? Fake eggs? Is that anything like my pretend friend?
Posted by Pepper on 2009-06-23:
Ponie - depends on how drunk the manager is. :)

Pepper, that's probably a lot like the voices in my head, right? They keep asking questions more often. :)

Did you ever think that they may have made fresh squeezed orange juice and put it in a bottle? They're not going to individually hand squeeze an orange everytime someone orders orange juice. As for the eggs, no excuse for that.

DB, while you do have a valid point regarding the OJ, we Coloradoans have a much higher standard of living and dining as compared to other states like OHIO for instance.
We demand total satisfaction in every aspect of our daily lives.
Now go and make me some fresh sqeezed OJ!!!!

Yes Sir! I was gonna put some fresh squeezed nectarine juice on the menu today...but if it's orange juice you want, then it's orange juice you'll get!

*puke* powdered eggs?
Posted by Pepper on 2009-06-23:
DB - that's what I was thinking. I mean they have to put it *somewhere*

were they expecting to see a small orange squeezer on the table?

and raven... powdered eggs are kinda edible. they're not as tasty as regular eggs but they're not as bad as other things i've tasted on the ship.

(the spoiled milk was pretty gross)

Pepper, we used to have a member on here named, "WeWereAScurvyLot"...he was Navy too...you two would have gotten along great together...but the whiners did him in. So sad to see him leave here.

Pepper, I'm surprised to hear you didn't like Navy chow. I found it great! Lots of choices, always fresh (never powdered eggs) the mess would cook up what you liked for midrats. I found galley crews, mess attendants worked super hard and it was appreciated.

Sorry, VF. The Navy chow I had was pretty substandard. I remember one time getting mashed potatoes with shredded newspaper in it.
Posted by Pepper on 2009-06-23:
dang. i don't think i ever had shredded newspaper but...

VF- they've gotten stingier on the ships...

my last ship screwed up their schedule and didn't order us fresh milk. I would have been grateful for powdered milk.. instead they served us spoiled milk. i learned to sniff it or take a tiny sip first to see if it was drinkable... but one of the guys oohhh he just gulped half his glass down before he realized it had turned. (poor guy)

on that last ship we even ran out of spoiled milk. now soda i can see as a luxury but... when they run out of juice, fake juice, and milk it gets kind annoying.

but i will agree that the cooks and mess cranks worked their butts off.

but the cooks and mess cranks don't usually control what higher ups order or forget to order for us. especially when the ship changes it's mind and goes out longer than they planned for.
