evercom Complaint - absolutely FRAUD!!!!!
I have read everyone else's complaints and can certainly empathize with them. I have been attempting to discontinue this service for 2 weeks now. Here's the kicker (and I need to know if anyone else has encountered this problem) Evercom tells me that I may not do so because I agreed to a permanent contract with them! I was in the middle of switching to SBC (which will allow my boyfriend to call and get directly billed on my monthly phone bill) If they had even mentioned to me that this was a permanent solution, I would of hung up immediately. I went as far as to tell the rep I would only be needing the service for a week or two.
I was actually told by a rep that most of the time, they're too busy to remind customers of that. To which I can honestly say, I never ever agreed to. I am now an SBC customer for nothing. They call themselves CUTTING EDGE TECHNOLOGY, sounds more like cutting throat terror to me. I finally was able to speak to a supervisor (which by the way, was far more rude and inconsiderate than the reps themselves) and I asked her to play my initial tape back. She refused. I could go on and on about what unfortunate difficulties I've experienced with this company but I choose to share something with everyone that might help. During a conversation with Evercom, I was (on the sly) told that there is a loop hole in their system. If you have a zero balance with them or ask for a refund of remaining monies you may have in your account, your number will fall off the their system in about 30 days. I later asked this person to reverify, but they choose not to. Has this, in fact, ever been the circumstance to any other customers of EVERCOM. If so, please write. It's the only bright light we may have in the future. Nothing in life is permanent! Who are they trying to kid? Well us, I guess. And guess what....they're winning.
P.S. a note to all of the deragatory commentors. Until you've become a victim of something like this yourself, and never say never. If a loved one in your family or circle of friends ever becomes incarcerated, you'll go through the same hell we're experiencing. Have some common decency will you. The sky will not always be blue over your head, that you can take to the bank.
