Yodle Complaint - Yodle is a Scam! Ripoff - Internet Advertising, Websites and Lead Generation

Internet Advertising, Websites and Lead Generation - Complaint
Review by RippedoffbyYodle on 2009-06-26
NORTH CAROLINA -- Yodle claims to do Internet Advertising, Websites and Lead Generation but all they really do is harass small businesses day after day with cold calling (Boiler Room Technics) until they talk the money right out of your bank account. Once they get your account info they will bill you and extract money from your bank account and provide you with nothing in return. You'll never hear from them again but the will continue to tap your bank account. They promise to make your phone ring off the hook with a great advertising campaign but thats just a lie. They stole almost 2000.00 from my bank account and My business has not received any valuable calls, emails or leads produced by Yodle. They are a scam. Your phone will ring off the hook (by Yodle Sales Dept.) until you give them your money, then you'll never hear from them again...until you see that they are debiting your bank account without authorization. If you hear the name Yodle hang up a call your states Consumer Protection Division.

They have so many complaints that I am told an investigation is being initiated against the owner. Yodle is a classic telemarketing scam based in North Carolina.

Never give your bank account or credit card information to anyone no matter how much "talking" they do.

I frankly believe any of these internet optimizing/marketing companies are a waste of money. Those who really can produce top search hits and corresponding actions/leads leads, don't do it for others at a token price. They do it themselves and sell the leads to corresponding business genres for a mint.

I am in the Search Marketing field and I don't condone the behavior you mention regarding your Yodle rep. My opinion is that you have to hold accountable the person who you are working with. Your campaign is effected greatly upon who/how it is being set up. Don't let a bad representative give you a bad taste for search engine marketing because it does work quite well for many businesses. One of the biggest issues is a salesperson being more concerned about getting a sale versus making an informed recommendation. One of the biggest reasons a PPC campaign fails is underbudgeting. If you own a business, you understand that sales is a necessary element. Cold calling is a necessary evil and I guarantee you any sales rep/marketing expert would prefer 100% referrals. Once again, it is truly a shame that you were burned by someone at Yodle as in addition to them having an another unhappy client, they are giving good people who are good at what they do a bad name. I would be interested in seeing what you were promoting and what area you were targeting. I can typically pinpoint what went wrong. Sometimes its an easy answer of your industry just not being a good fit for PPC marketing. Any questions, let me know.

Consumer Protection Division is for consumers really and aren't much help with B2B disputes. I agree though that most companies like this offer little real value in many cases. If they did an unauthorized bank draft, you should call your bank and reverse any and all charges you can that they made.
